Book 4 is being developed separately, but will ultimately be presented along with the first three books as a 6-hour theatrical event. Books 1-4 are known as the Telemachy and follow our hero’s son, Telemachus, as he searches for his father and faces the challenges of growing up.
In Book 4, Telemachus visits Menelaus’s home in Sparta. Helen drugs everyone. We hear about a tricky horse! Proteus lets the cat out of the bag on Odysseus’s whereabouts. The suitors plan murder. Penelope can’t stand it.
Joseph received an Artist Support Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature to develop Book 4 further at The Cherry in Ithaca, NY in 2026.
A 6-hour Telemachy was co-produced as a developmental production by Theaterlab, New York City and Joseph Medeiros; in association with Dan Stone - InStone Productions, Quiet Storm Creative, and Mark Toubman in 2025, with support from Richard Mark and Maura L. Harway, Diana Toubman, Mary Pat, Amy Peck Abraham, Jen Lam, Jack Lane, Matthew Glasner, Jamie deRoy, and Sophany Chhim.
